The Large Palestra was excavated between 1935 and 1939 and is located within the archaeological area of ​​Pompeii. It was built during the Augustan era (early 1st century AD) and served as a place of physical and intellectual development for young Pompeians. The Park's General Director entrusted the extraordinary maintenance work to the company COEDIL SUD and primarily involved the complete structural replacement and the roof covering, with handcrafted tiles and flat roof tiles, at the intersection of two pitches, the replacement of some lintels of the colonnade, extraordinary maintenance of the roof covering of the three arms of the Palestra, and the restoration and consolidation of the colonnade's plasterwork.
